Walking around Whisby Nature Park

It was Good Friday and we needed a stop off point on our journey to our little caravan holiday in Lincolnshire. A quick Google search led us to Whisby Nature Park.

I’d read that this nature park is dog friendly and free to visit which sounded perfect for us! It took us around 90 minutes to drive here from Leeds and it was a great place to stretch our legs.

The car park was large and just £3 to park all day so we got our very full car parked up then headed for the visitor centre. The place was busy with it being Easter and quite cramped for us with our giant dog so we didn’t head into the cafe or spend much time in the shop either.

We grabbed a map then headed for one of the walks instead. I did see that there is a beautiful view of the lake and even an indoor play area that we likely would have visited if we didn’t have our dog with us.

We decided to head on one of the walks instead and to see where our legs took us rather than choose a route. Or should I say – see which direction our toddler took us in!

We walked very slowly towards the longer routes, choosing to stay away from the edges with water (just to make our lives easier).

The route was incredibly quiet and we loved the amount of space we had. We were actually able to have our toddler walk slowly along the path without coming across any people at all during the majority of our walk. This was a nice change from all the busy walks we normally do in Yorkshire. It meant we could walk at our super slow pace without getting in anybody’s way!

The great thing about this park was the amount of routes to choose from. There seemed to be quite a lot of different walks to go on! We ended up heading towards the longest ones and finally walking the Willow Walk.

The walk went on forever! But our toddler insists on walking the dog and who are we to say no?

Once we finally got back to the visitor centre it was near closing time but we had chance for a quick play in the sand pit.

We didn’t have enough time to really explore this spot fully but we really enjoyed our visit. I’d absolutely revisit to walk the other routes!

This is a great little find and perfect for a simple dog walk that’s easy to follow. There are multiple routes to explore and with the addition of the outdoor play area and indoor soft play, it’s perfect for the whole family!
