This month we took our annual trip to Whitby for the February Steampunk festival. Over 4 years ago now, we went for one of our first trips away together and we’ve been every year since! The event really never disappoints.

We popped on our attire and packed up the car with our dog ready to make the 2 hour drive across to the East coast. This time we would be going only for the day rather than staying over.

We were lucky with the weather as Storm Otto had just passed and made way for blue skies and a delightfully dry day in Whitby – Which is not something we see very often!

A lovely stroll around the harbour and up to the Abbey reminded me of why we love Whitby so much. All the history, quirky little stores, market stalls and little pubs. It really is one of my favourite places in the UK and on a clear day it’s even better!

Climbing up the 199 steps, we made it to the top – harder than you think at 5 months pregnant!

We even had time to stop for ice cream, chips, fudge and all the things that make a trip to the British seaside iconic.

We had the pleasure of visiting a couple of dog friendly Whitby Jet jewellery stores to pick out our wedding bands! Of course we can’t resist tieing the knot without a nod to our favourite place we share in common.

Finally, we headed for the Steampunk event which is a brilliant collection of craft and unique stores showcasing all things steampunk/alternative/goth and just plain quirky!

As we go to this event every year it was nice to see some familiar faces and of course most people recognise us because of the dog! Next time we head to this event there will be more than just the 3 of us, so before we left we got some family pics to mark the occasion.

Not long before we visit Whitby again I’m sure! It never disappoints.
