Shropshire Sculpture Park in all its glory

Last month we went on a family holiday to Wales staying in a converted barn in the middle of nowhere. It was absolute bliss. Luckily, just a 30 minute drive away near the town of Oswestry, we found the impressive Shropshire Sculpture Park. Also known as The British Ironwork Centre.

This place was incredible. It absolutely blew us away and far exceeded our expectations. Having visited other sculpture parks and trails previously including Yorkshire Sculpture Park, I expected something similar. I was wrong.

This place is so unique it is bound to tickle your fancy if you are a fan of sculptures. There was so much to look at that i’m not even going to bother going in to detail about the place. I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Instead i’m going to fill this post with some of the photos I took of the incredible sculptures. Pictures say more than words especially in this case.

I believe they add more sculptures, move their locations and change them every so often so what you see now may not be there in years to come. We are bound to visit again in the future as the place was so large we didn’t even get round it all!

Yummy food

We had the pleasure of visiting the on-site cafe where the afternoon teas that people were enjoying looked amazing. The whole setting was really quirky with sculptures dotted about the place and cool eye-catching decor.

The cakes looked delicious too! We decided to stop for lunch and whilst it did take a while because it was busy, we weren’t disappointed. A Yorkshire pudding beef wrap was more tempting than ever after a cold wet day walking around!

This sculpture park has something for everyone with a variety of sculptures themed on movies, children, animals, extinction – All sorts! All photographs featured on this blog post were taken by me on our visit in November 2025. There were many more sculptures to see but these are just a bundle I took photos of:

Education is key

A special mention goes to the fact this place really opens your eyes. They’ve made a lot of the sculptures mean something and throughout the walk there is the chance for you to educate yourself on some real issues we have going on in the world. Anything from politics, environment to wildlife. I found it all so interesting and I didn’t even have time to stand and read it all with a toddler in tow. I hope to revisit and spend more time here – It would definitely be worth an annual pass.

If you fancy an amazing day out – Don’t hesitate to visit Shropshire Sculpture Park! Without a doubt, one of my favourite attractions. Have you been before?
