Returning to Southwold

It’s been a whole 5 years since I blogged about my day trip to Southwold in Suffolk here.

We all know how fast time whizzes by and whilst it feels like nothing much has changed and a trip that happened 5 years ago feels like yesterday. As a matter of fact, a lot has changed!

So here I am writing about my return to Southwold in 2024, this time with my fiance, daughter and gran! Two of which didn’t exist to me in 2019.

The town is thriving on Easter weekend and the sun popping out has surely helped too. Little shops and cafes line the paths and dogs surround every corner. One of the least pram friendly places I’ve been I must admit!

Gone are the days of popping in to anywhere we like the look of. Now we look for places with space for a pram, no stairs and a comfortable setting for breastfeeding in.

Funnily enough, this led us back to Coasters. The exact place my gran and I ate lunch in 5 years ago! Happy to return to this cosy little spot as it was perfect for our trip today.

This Easter weekend we opted for something sweet. It would be rude not to go for one of the 88 gins they had on offer! (Reduced from the previous 150 they had at the last visit) A plum stout and amaretto coffee ordered whilst Hilda enjoyed her milk.

This time instead of lunch we ordered a combination of sweet treats. A toasted tea cake, slice of carrot cake and a delicious gingerbread muffin for me!

Tasted just like Christmas! Unusual yet highly recommended I must say.

After our quick stop we ventured to the seafront where we walked alongside the beach until we reached the pier. Admiring the little beach huts as we walked along.

As you can probably tell by the pictures, the sun didn’t come out until the afternoon but nevertheless it was another good day in Southwold.

Walking the little streets as a new mum reminds me of how much my life has changed yet we can still enjoy all the same things we did before. Only this time, we get to introduce everywhere we go to our little one. I look forward to visiting new places and revisiting old ones together. So many adventures to come.

Xx Sophie
