Our latest adventure!

If you are a regular reader of my blog you’ll notice I’ve been rather distant for the last few months! And really quiet even over the last year in comparison to usual.

Well it’s pretty obvious why isn’t it? The global pandemic has put a restriction on us all when it comes to travel and what use is a travel blog with nothing to write about? Not to mention the lack of motivation to put pen to paper or in this case, thumbs to keypad!

But the truth is, I have a new adventure and now that I’m older it doesn’t involve going out of the country but something just as exciting as that for us.

We bought a new home!

The photo taken precisely from the spot I sit in to write this post… Why not?

Effectively, this is our dream home. The house we never EVER thought we’d be able to buy, let alone afford. But thanks to the pandemic boosting the house market and our previous house being in an area particularly desired, it allowed us to upgrade! So in some ways.. The pandemic turned out to be a blessing in disguise for us. Although of course, I would have much preferred for it to not happen and take away all the suffering instead!

But it is what it is and at the start of 2021 we decided to list our property for sale. 6 months later, we are in! It was a long process and by far one of the most stressful things I’ve ever done. On top of that, it continues to be stressful!

A survey on a new house will tell you somethings, but it won’t tell you that the heating will turn itself on everytime you want hot water. That the garage door is on its last legs. That your neighbours will intrude on your everyday movements meaning you need to spend 2 grand on a new 6 foot fence. That your taps, shower and countless other things will need replacing as soon as you move in. The list goes on and on! I’m sure you get the gist…

But is it all worth it?

One step onto the balcony and the house speaks for itself.

We know this has been the right step for us. It will be a long process of hard work and lots of saving to get it the way we want it. But we are excited about the project and to us, this is our new adventure.

So here’s to making a house a home! And those days where I might get time to relax..
