Life on lockdown

As you know, countries all around the world have been affected by the Coronavirus we call COVID-19.

Our lives are rapidly changing and for me, living in the United Kingdom, I’ve had to adapt to following strict social distancing measures.

For anyone living under a rock for the past month, this is what the rules look like:

As the adventurous type blogging predominately about travel, you can imagine, I don’t have a whole lot to blog about in that area right now!

But that doesn’t stop me writing.

It was 2 weeks ago our prime minister made the announcement that all bars and restaurants would close their doors. Which means it’s been 2 weeks since I enjoyed a drink with friends. It’s not a long time, and I’m definitely coping better than some.

As a full time homeworker I can’t say it has had too much of an impact on me daily. Of course the impact on me financially and mentally due to my change of role at work has been an eye-opener. The lack of ability to be able to go where we like is also tough.

What I wouldn’t give to be in the beer garden of some country pub after a long walk right now!

Throwback to only February! Enjoying the sun and a pint in Spain!

We may not be able to do what we want right now, but it will get better.

And one thing that we can do during this time is learn to appreciate the little things in life.

I for one, have realised how greatful I am to live in the house I bought only last year. What a great choice for me and my family. I’m lucky to have a garden we can enjoy and be in Yorkshire with walks on our doorstep. Even if it is only one a day!

I also have a whole new appreciation for so many things. I even wrote a list!

Things I will never take for granted again.

I will spend the rest of my time throughout this making the most of time I might not normally get to myself. I might still be working full time for now but there are many things I and all of us can do to keep us going. These are just some of the things I have planned-

– Finally decorate the house! Painting and gardening spring to mind.

– Continue learning a language. Really need to brush up my Spanish skills.

– Read more. Can’t wait to tuck in to C. L. Taylors latest novel released this week.

– Movie marathons! I’ve been meaning to watch all those superhero movies for a while now.

– Discover local walks. We’ve already found a few we didn’t know existed around here. I’m sure there must be more!

– Relax.

What are your plans during lockdown?
