Last week, after returning from my summer travels, I felt inspired. I’d just spent 2 weeks backpacking from Slovakia across Austria to Germany and after many hikes and climbing mountains it was a strange feeling to be back at my desk.

I visited parts of Spain and Croatia and saw so many beautiful things this year that I feel it is crucial I continue exploring even after getting home.
So this brings me to ‘my mission‘.
I am originally from England and want to explore more of my home country. So my mission is to do just that!
I live in Guiseley, West Yorkshire which is not far from the cities of Leeds and Bradford in the North of England.
I will start by exploring the local area, hiking and making my way through different parts of Yorkshire. I then want to explore more of Scotland and Wales and Southern England.
Here’s how I’m doing so far with the United Kingdom:
I’ve spent a good chunk of my life living in England including Leeds, Bradford and London so the places i’ve visited so far have been over many years. I want to expand on this over the next few months!
Here are a few cities on my wish list:
- Bristol
- Cambridge
- Plymouth
- Glasgow
- Belfast
- Liverpool
- Brighton
- Leicester
- Chester
If you want to read about how I’m doing then you can easily find my posts under the United Kingdom category on my blog! Or just simply click the button below.
Do you have any recommendations on places to visit? Let me know by leaving a comment!

You’re so right about visiting your own country. We decided at the beginning of 2017 to housesit and travel primarily round the UK for a year or so as there were so many places we hadn’t managed to see. Takes a bit of planning but you’ll have so much fun doing it.

Yes it’s great! It does make me wish I had more time off though. If I was retired i’d be tempted to do a day in each town and travel on to the next until i’ve been around the whole country! That would be great! Where in the UK are you from originally?

We lived in Maidstone Kent for 20 years until we packed it all in and went off 3 years ago.

Newcastle! Slight bias as it’s my hometown, but everytime I get back to visit, there is more and more to see and do.

I’ve been 3 times before but for a concert, to catch a ferry and for work so I wouldn’t say I’ve really seen much of the place! Meant to have a good nightlife right?

Such a good idea! I’ve been travelling for ten months and realised that there’s still plenty to see in our own country!
