Ibiza: What a surprise!

Ibiza has never been on my Bucket List. In fact, it’s more likely to have been featured on my ‘Places to never visit’ list.. If I had one.

Unfortunately, when you base your opinion of a place/country or city on the opinions of others or the reviews you hear then sometimes it puts you off places before you even visit. With Ibiza, I must admit I judged it on everything I have heard throughout my life. I have never been happier to have been proven wrong!

When you think about Ibiza surely you imagine partying, young British people drunk everywhere and those annoying bars where English entice you in with the offer of free shots! Whilst I didn’t visit San Antonio which I’ve heard is like this I must admit that I assumed all of Ibiza would be like this.

I was invited to my best friend’s 30th birthday which we would celebrate in an apartment by Marina Botafoch on the island of Eivissa. I was sceptical at first but it really was a great excuse to put me out of my comfort zone. I’m so happy that I accepted the invitation!

Ibiza offered a little of everything- Elegant bars for cocktails and dinner with a nice relaxing atmosphere around Ibiza Town. A beautiful beach to relax on or have a soak at Marina Botafoch. You could also admire the fancy yachts at the Marina and it provided a nice view of Dalt Vila by Old Town across the harbour. Visiting Dalt Vila was one of the highlights – Now a Unesco Heritage Sight this place offered history and panaramic views of Ibiza Town & surrounding islands. The old town is full of little shops and windy Spanish streets filled with local restaurants for a variety of food including tapas and seafood.

I’d highly recommend Ibiza to anyone of any age as I really do feel like this place is not just great for groups of friends but couples and families too as it really does have a lot to offer!
