Half-term fun at The Pink Pig Farm

Rewinding back to the start of this year we took a trip to The Pink Pig Farm in Lincolnshire. We were driving to Butlins from Leeds and knew we would need to stop off en-route with our fidgety one year old to break up the journey. So a stop to stretch our legs that involved pigs sounded like a good shout!

Complete with new bee backpack and reigns we walked towards the farm entrance and upon entry were greeted with a very cute play cafe. I knew our daughter would have loved this but we wanted to get round the farm and explore first!

We didn’t have time to do any research beforehand but we knew we’d find plenty to do here as a family.

It was half term so we were expecting it to be super busy but thankfully it was pleasantly quiet. A lot of the outdoor activities were aimed at older kids meaning our 1 year old was a little too small for half of it but she did enjoy riding on the karts – As did I! We had a lot of fun cycling around the little track.

There were sand pits, climbing frames, ziplining and assault courses dotted around. The half term theme was super heroes and they had a great little porta-cabin up in the corner of the field. We entered to find a pitch black room with lazers set up to be like a mission impossible task where you had to duck and avoid the lazers. It was small but a nice little touch of fun.

There were various activities to keep kids occupied like nurf gun shooting and a giant tractor wooden climbing frame! But since our daughter is only young she got most enjoyment from just running around exploring.

Given the name of the place I was actually expecting to be surrounded by pigs but we were sadly disappointed – We saw only two!

We did however get to enjoy the small animal trail where we saw turkeys, alpacas, donkeys, sheep and geese!

It wasn’t quite as buzzing as it sounds. It was super small and didn’t quite match up to the entry fee given I saw more animals at No go bye farm for a much cheaper entry fee! But with Pink Pig Farm you’re getting access to all the extra facilities too. I’ve since visited Heskith Farm which is a lot more interactive with the animals and amount you can see, it also has a cheaper entry fee.

Being February, the weather was pretty chilly so we were thankful for the cafe inside complete with soft play included in the entry fee! There was a section for under 2s and we fully made the most of this!

After enjoying a Terry’s Orange Hot Chocolate we decided it was time we found something to eat!

Heading across the way to the on site restaurant we were met with a beautifully decorated little extension of the farm complete with gift shop.

We ordered simple/quick/tasty lunch items whilst our daughter enjoyed colouring with the crayons and books they had out.

The food was great but the decor was my favourite. It was a really pleasant setting with a cosey home feel and lovely and quiet too. You can actually visit the restaurant without paying entry to Pink Park Farm so this might be a good cost effective option if we are looking for a place to visit again for lunch on the road.

Another fun little family day out for us all. Until next time!

Website: https://www.pinkpigfarm.co.uk/
Location: Near Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire
Entrance Fee: (Prices correct in April 2025) Under 2’s – Always £3.50. Adults, children and toddlers prices vary depending on half term or weekend. Ranging from £6.50pp to £13.
Verdict: We visited during February half term and felt that the price was too high for a quiet Friday. Yes it’s half term, but I’ve never seen entrance fee’s literally double in price before. It wasn’t quite worth the entrance fee, especially with only an infant with us – We couldn’t do half of the things anyway. We paid the extra cost because we needed a stop over en-route to Butlins and whilst we had fun, we were surprised to see how few animals there were here, especially pigs.
Top tip: If you are visiting with a toddler under 2, avoid half term or weekends because the increased entrance fee isn’t worth it for adult admission.

  1. Sounds like a lovely family day out at The Pink Pig Farm! The mix of activities for all ages, from sand pits to the Mission Impossible laser challenge, sounds like a great way to keep everyone entertained. It’s a shame there weren’t more pigs, but it seems like the other animals and the play cafe more than made up for it. I love the idea of the cozy restaurant and how they made it family-friendly with the crayons and books for the kids. Definitely a place to consider for a pit stop next time I’m in the area!
