It’s coming up to a year since I wrote the goals I had in mind for 2017, I can’t believe how fast it’s flown by!
So how did I do in 2017?
Well, when I wrote them I had 5 solid goals in mind that I wanted to achieve and stick by. Here we go..
1.Visit a new country outside of Europe
Well I did it, I finally went out of Europe again and at the same time took myself to a few new countries! We started by visiting the USA in August for my birthday. Whilst Texas didn’t go as planned we did still make it to America and even got to visit my favourite city- Chicago!
After the USA we even managed a few more countries in October! Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and United Arab Emirates. Of those, 3 were brand new to me. It feels so good to be able to visit new countries as often as I do and to really experience culture.
2. Get saving!
This year I’m really proud of how much I’ve kept on top of my savings. I’ve managed to get myself to the stage where if I had other factors in my life on point then I’d be financially able to buy an apartment! Another year at a pace like this and I’ll be able to get myself a little house! I’ve not quite cut out buying rubbish but I have stopped buying chocolate and snacks like I used to. I also spend loads less on alcohol just by drinking less.
3. Take care of myself.
This was a bit of a half hearted goal! What I really wanted to write was get fit and healthy but I guess I knew I wouldn’t be very good at sticking to that.. Luckily that is my main goal for 2018! I must admit though, whilst it may be nearly the end of the year, recently I really have got in to gear trying to look after myself! I joined the gym at the end of November and have been going 3 times a week since. I’ve even switched my diet to a more greeny feel good diet 😉 Really proud of myself lately and determined to keep it up! Now if I can just learn to take care of myself in other ways then I’ll be all set.
4. Get my driving licence.
I sure did! It turned pink finally! It was New Years Day when I decided to take the plunge and message a local driving instructor. 5 months later and here I am with my new licence! I passed May 10th 2017.
5. Make a house a home.
I certainly did. And whilst I’d love to say everything here is perfect, I’m not sure anybody can say that so I won’t.. But I do love my new home. I’ve really settled in here and the location has definitely taught me that I want to live here for a very long time! I’ve had my fair share of house parties here this year and really made the house feel very homey. The first time I’ve ever really felt at home anywhere to be honest!
Well that’s it for 2017.. What a year it’s been!
I can only hope that 2018 is even better, filled with adventures and brings me lots of happiness! Stay tuned for my 2018 goals I hope to write over the next few weeks 🙂
Sounds like a great, fulfilling year. Congratulations Sophie, hope you have a great Christmas
