During lockdown, when we were allowed to go walking once per day, it really made me appreciate being outside. Making the most of that one walk a day is when I truly discovered all the local walks in Pudsey and the surrounding areas of West Yorkshire. It also happened to be then that my blog really started to peak. I absolutely love walking and it will always remain one of my favourite pasttimes.

I don’t know if it was because we were in lockdown and people were restricted to only local travel or if there was in fact a gap in the market for certain walks. But, even now, walks that I’ve written about in Yorkshire are some of the most viewed posts on my site!
I didn’t write about all the walks in the area because as you can imagine, there are loads! But I enjoyed those that I did write. I even enjoy looking back on my posts because it gave me a little bit of joy during a tough time. I love that people are still reading these and perhaps they find inspiration for walks they could do themselves. It motivates me to keep writing.
I can’t believe it was 5 years ago that the COVID pandemic affected us all greatly. It feels like a lifetime ago but at the same time like it was yesterday. I look at how much has changed in my life personally and it does feel like a world away. One thing for sure is that I do still have the same interests. I never take for granted my freedom and the ability to continue visiting new places and seeing new things.

Fast forward to now, I’m still out walking but not as much as I would like to. Of course, it’s no secret that I’ve since had a baby but I’ve definitely stopped doing as much as I used to. Naturally, my time is taken up raising a child which, as you can imagine, is pretty time-consuming.
I still love to walk and I want to make time for it. I especially want to get my toddler in to hikes with us. We have an Osprey backpack providing the best kind of support for going on those big hikes!

We have an awesome Oyster 3 Pram, which makes walking on all sorts of terrain much easier.

We even have a carrier for front and back but as she grows this gets harder and harder to carry her in.

Now that she’s no longer a little baby I just need to get used to carrying the extra load. Naturally, she is walking and running so the more she gets used to this, I’m sure the further she will be willing to go.

Our ultimate goal is to go on more hikes as a family starting small and eventually climbing mountains! You never know. She’ll hopefully love it as much as we do.
5 years on and I have decided to revisit some of those local walks I wrote about during the pandemic. I still walk these regularly with my dog. After all, she still needs walking daily. It’s been a long while since I’ve written any guides on walks I recommend, so stay tuned. I hope to rediscover the best local walks in the area of Leeds and write some detailed guides on exactly which way to turn. Where to start the walks, rather than just what me and my family have been up to. I’m going to start with a series of walks about Post Hill.
I have previously written about Post Hill in West Yorkshire here. There are many paths you can take inside this green space. I’ve only previously touched upon one so, through a series of posts over the coming months, I will explore and share all the walks I’ve found within Post Hill over the years. This is my favourite local spot and a place I visit weekly, if not daily during summer. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and perhaps my guides will help you discover a walk you’ve never done before.
Please leave me a comment if you enjoy anything you read on my blog and let me know if you recommend any walks you’d like me to try. I’d love to hear from you.
