Tasty bagels at Bean & Gone Espresso Bar

Nestled in the market town of Pudsey just outside the city of Leeds is the relatively new cafe Bean & Gone.

I say relatively new because it wasn’t here when I moved to the area 5 years ago but it’s still been here a couple of years already! Doesn’t time fly..

Anyway, it’s about time I ventured through the doors. I’ve wanted to try it for a while due to the fact the cafe is dog friendly. This should be quite a normal trait these days but it’s surprisingly not in Pudsey! So I’m happy to welcome a dog friendly cafe to the town.

On this occasion I didn’t have my large breed husky shepherd with me but instead my baby in her big pram. Taking the two of them may have caused carnage!

When visiting places with a baby you definitely look at things differently.

The cafe is quite small inside but still many tables to choose from with comfy chairs, tall benches and even a small outdoor seating area too. Due to its size, it’s not the easiest to navigate with a pram. Still, with that said children are welcomed and the staff held the door for me as I entered. Juggling a pram with a door is something I’m still trying to get the hang of!

I ventured to the back of the cafe which looked to be the most inviting space for breastfeeding. With its comfy feel and chairs with arms (always what I look for when feeding) I tucked away in the corner.

It’s a nice environment here, quiet, warm and inviting. I noticed too that there are high chairs available alongside baby changing facilities so whilst it’s not the most spacious cafe they still cater for the little ones better than a lot of places!

As I’ve never been before I entered with the intention of only ordering my usual go to drink – Hot Chocolate. I’m not a coffee lover but a little chocolate addict at least so I’m glad they cater for us sweet toothers. With my rumbling tummy a sign for bagels caught my eye so I grabbed a menu.

Over a fiver for a bagel to me seems expensive. But as I don’t eat lunch out very often, I’d imagine this is probably the going rate in the cost of living crisis we find ourselves in. So really, I can’t comment on the prices. To me it was a treat and as I was hungry I went ahead and ordered ‘The Cheese One’.

The Cheese One

This was hands down the tastiest bagel I’ve had the pleasure of scoffing. It was worth every penny! (Even if I did have to eat it over my daughters head whilst she squirmed around trying to feed.) The bagel was so tasty that it’s made me want to head back and try them all!

I also enjoyed the hot chocolate although it wasn’t as hot as I would have liked. Of course this is a blessing when you’re dining with a baby so I appreciate that!

Hot Chocolate & The Cheese One Bagel

Overall, I was really pleased with my visit to Bean and Gone. Whilst it was short and sweet, the food left me wanting more and the staff were kind too. There is nothing worse than trying a local establishment where the staff have no interest in your business.

I’ll revisit again someday and hopefully sometime with my mutt too. Although I can’t imagine a 48kg dog and large pram will go down too well – Maybe in the summer we shall sit outside!

A little gem in the heart of Pudsey this cafe is definitely worth popping by for a quick bite.
